The visit of our form VI pupils to the country house where Don José Batlle y Ordóñez (1856-1929), who was twice president of Uruguay, lived, has a significant cultural and educational value.
In the residence built at the end of the 19th century, which is now considered a national historic monument, some of the original furniture and several objects that belonged to the former president and his family are still preserved, such as the desk, the library and the bedrooms.
Touring the house which is today a historical national museum and its enormous garden allowed our students to tangibly visualize how a political leader lived and worked in a time very different from the current one and connect with the reality of life at that time.
